Rockaway, NJ, USA, July 18, 2017—Excitement is growing for the new international conference for lab design professionals, architects, engineers, and lab equipment and furniture suppliers, which will debut in Madrid, September 20-22, 2017. The focus is on trend-setting best practices for the next generation of state-of-the-art laboratories worldwide. Laboratory Design and R&D Magazine have partnered with the Scientific Equipment and Furniture Association (SEFA), an international trade organization, to bring together international experts for a robust exchange of ideas and new solutions for building the world’s greatest scientific research centers.

Attendees will have the opportunity to network and learn from these global lab design experts in this two-day conference and expo being held at the Novotel Madrid Center. Speakers will address topics including global regulations, innovative lab design, sustainability, lab safety, collaborative spaces, and high-performance building design across a variety of laboratory types around the world. The educational agenda is available here. Registration is available here.

“We have defined a real need for the international lab design community to meet and communicate on a global scale,” explains David Sutton, Executive Director of SEFA. “Our membership has asked for this collaboration with Laboratory Design to put on a cutting-edge program that addresses the needs of international and US-based firms that do business worldwide.”

This first-of-its-kind international lab design conference will focus on “Global Connections in Lab Design” presenting interactive sessions on Global Challenges, Lab Design and Sustainability/Energy—all key drivers for new ways to prepare for the next generation of modern labs. Presentations will address the specific needs of the international markets and discuss best practices. Important trends and best practices in laboratory design, architecture, engineering, construction, lab furnishings, and operations will be examined in a unique collaborative environment. Industry leaders will present new projects, successful high-profile laboratories as well as their views on the global challenges that face the future of lab design.

“The Madrid program is perfect for lab design professionals who want to learn about the future of global lab design and understand more fully how lab designs translate worldwide,” said Bea Riemschneider, Editorial Director of Advantage Business Media’s Science Group, the organizer of the international conference. “We’ve put together an exciting educational agenda that showcases top experts from around the world including England, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Portugal, and the United States.”

“As the growth of new and expanding labs continues across Europe and Asia, our Laboratory Design community is seeking greater global insight and connections into those markets. Through our partnership with the global association SEFA, we are able to offer our audience the opportunity to learn and connect in person at our first International Laboratory Design Conference in Madrid, which complements our 15+ years of the successful North American Laboratory Design Conference recently held in Raleigh, NC, which witnessed a 50% attendee growth,” said Jim Lonergan, CEO of Advantage Business Media.
