Brian Richard, AIA, NCARB, is an Executive Vice President and the Science and Technology Practice Leader at Kirksey Architecture. Brian has nearly 20 years of experience as an Architect and is licensed to practice in multiple states. Hailing from a small town near New Orleans, Brian graduated magna cum laude with an Honors Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 1999. From there, Brian has owned his own successful architectural practice in Houston focusing on complex, technology-based projects, before transitioning to a leadership position at Kirksey Architects. At Kirksey, Brian’s team focuses on industrial projects, mission critical, laboratory & research, and complex projects for Fortune 500 companies mainly in or serving the Energy, Oil & Gas, Chemical, and Technology sectors.
Brian’s projects have ranged from very small but highly-complex data center projects to very large Headquarter & Research campus projects, many for top Fortune 50 companies. In addition to leading this market sector at Kirksey, Brian serves as the firm’s lab planner on all laboratory projects and has developed a renowned expertise in petrochemical laboratories. Brian’s experience and expertise is deep, and often sought as a resource by his clients for industry-leading consultation, management, strategic design, and laboratory planning services.
Brian holds multiple certifications in industry-wide applications which support his project types, allowing him to completely immerse himself in the business opportunities of his clients. Brian was named a top 40 Under 40 in business by the Houston Business Journal in 2010, top 20 Under 40 by Engineering News Record in 2011, and was the only Architect honored in the Houston Business Journal’s 2014 Who’s Who in the Energy Business.
In January 2017 Brian was nominated to serve on the Advisory Board of the Scientific Equipment & Furniture Association (SEFA).
