Urs Klipfel, Head of Education, Science and Technology Europe, and member of the management at HDR GmbH, is a registered architect and urban planner in Munich, Germany. Urs is a member of the Bavarian architectural association as well as a member of the European Association of Sustainable Laboratories (EGNATON).
During his longstanding career, Urs has specialized in strategic and operational real estate development as well as planning and realization of a variety of laboratory and research buildings. He has participated in the programming and planning of major research projects and vivaria for institutional and corporate clients. His assignments include existing facilities analysis, facilities master planning, and macro- and micro-level development of laboratory, pilot plant, vivarium, and facilities for use of toxic and hazardous substances. He also has a wide experience in the design of clean rooms and special laboratory equipment. Urs is a highly experienced speaker and recently spoke at "Lab Design Round Table Conference 2017" in Berlin, Germany, on the Helmholtz Diabetes Center, Munich, Germany, the HDR Academy - International Web-Conference 2016, "Strategic facility planning at Helmholtz Campus Munich," and "Healthcare Facility of the Next Generation," in 2015 in Frankfurt, Germany.
